NBE: November

Hey gang:

We are voting on the Next Big Event! This is going to be build-your-own Type 2, which means the following:

Pick two blocks between Lorwyn and the Rath Cycle, including also Ice Age (Ice Age, Alliances, Coldsnap) and one Core Set (from Revised to Tenth). Your deck will be built from these sets, adhering to any bannings in that block or during standard while that block was legal. (No raffinity, etc). Then, we'll play one of the following Tournaments:

A) Peasant

B) Pauper

C) Tag Team Peasant(as we tried before; each player gets to use only one of the two blocks to build their decks. However, both may pull cards from the same core set. Also... it's Peasant.)

D) 2HG (with randomized teams each round)

As usual, we'll be using approval voting! :-P Go ahead and vote:-P

When are we actually playing? Please suggest a Sunday in November. The Sundays before and after Thanksgiving are out, sorry.

When is voting closed? I dunno; I'll announce soon.

-Kyle

I vote for anything that ISN'T peasant/pauper.

pauper = only commons
peasant = 8 uncommons and no rares
I vote for peasant tag team! (if possible) If we're not mixing formats, then I vote for plain pauper, and you're a jerk.

Oops, yes. It should be Tag Team Peasant. Also, please feel free to vote using the letter of the choice :-P

Bob, which exactly are you voting for? ;)

(Going to change the original post now to Tag Team Peasant.)

Hey we should talk about pauper and peasant in regards to Timespiral timeshifted cards. Not all purple cards have rare power level. Some of them, like Thallid and Fiery Temper, are meant to be commons. Others, like Akroma, are definitely rare. I suggest that we decide the rarities of purple timeshifted cards by their rarity in former expansions. We separate the timeshifted cards at the end of our drafts because they are scarcer, but in terms of power, they should not all be labeled as rare.

What do you think? I am ultimately right about this, but you are entitled to your foolish opinions.

Is 2HG using regular deckbuilding rules, i.e. not pauper/peasant/etc.? If so, I vote for that.

Hmmm...

Okay, since the 2HG was neither peasant nor pauper, it gets bob's vote.

Scott also voted for the 2HG.

Kevin voted for peasant tag team.

Thus... 2HG wins! Let's have our tournament on November 11th! Any issues with that junx? Teams will be randomized each round.

question: are proxies allowed for this event? if not, are they ok if you can't tell that they're fake?
